We have chosen a selection of walks around Yarmouth, Freshwater and the West Wight. All of these start or finish at Off The Rails Yarmouth - if you enjoy Pub Walks you will love these!

Start your cycling adventure from Platform 1 (next door to Off The Rails, Yarmouth). The Yarmouth Hire Centre is the perfect starting point for exploring the downs, the beautiful beaches of the South Coast and the iconic Needles.

Enjoy the breathtaking view across the crystal waters of the Solent before stepping inside for an atmospheric recreation of how the castle was used in the 16th century. You can also explore an exhibition telling the story of the many shipwrecks that have occurred in the treacherous stretch of sea overlooked by the castle. Yarmouth Castle was one of Henry VIII’s most sophisticated coastal fortresses.

Home of the celebrated Victorian Poet Laureate Alfred, Lord Tennyson (1809 – 1892) and one of the Island’s most important historic estates, Farringford has been restored to its 19th century heyday.

Rebel Marine offer a wide range of vessels for RIB rides and charter from Yarmouth Harbour. Take in a trip around the Needles Lighthouse, explore the coast and spot wildlife from dolphins, seals and more.

Enjoy a stroll along the longest wooden pier in England. Grade II Listed, it’s a great way to get views East and West along with Solent.

One of the most picturesque beaches in West Wight, the beach is covered in a mixture of grey flint and chalk pebbles and sandy areas to sit if you walk to the more eastern side of the bay. A rock ledge is revealed at low tide, which is great for rockpooling with your kids.
